The Katsina State Police Command says, it has succeeded in arresting two suspected armed robbers impersonating as officers of the Nigerian Army and the Police to rob unsuspecting members of the public of their valuables.

The two suspects according to the spokesman, Superintendent Gambo Isah, are 35-year-old Yahaya Armaya’u, also known as Kofur and 32-year-old Bashir Isiyaku, also known as Soja.

Parading the 2 suspects before newsmen on Monda, Superintendent Gambo Isah said, both men are from Yar-Kaware village, in Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina State.

He said both men always dressed partially in Police and Army camouflage and intimidate their victims with handcuffs, before robbing them.

35-year-old Yahaya Armaya’u dressed in a police camouflage who is the ring leader of the 2-man syndicate, said both of them are commercial drivers who ply between Katsina-Abuja to other parts of the country.

He said they got the police and army camouflages from two of their security personnel passengers who boarded their vehicle in Yola, after a wedding ceremony.

The suspect added that both men forgot the uniforms in their respective vehicles which they decided to use casually, but did not intend to commit crime with them.

For the handcuffs, 32-year-old Bashir Isiyaku, spotting army camouflage said, he stole it from a Military Police friend serving at Ibadan, who came home due to illness.

Items recovered from the suspects include a handcuff, a police face cap, one army and police camouflage T-shirt, a pair of canvas and two black jean trousers.
