FG to auction 5G network at N100 billion Per Spectrum

The Federal Government has said each slot of the recently launched Fifth Generation Network ( 5G) spectrum will fetch it a minimum of N75 billion and could be as high as N100billion in an auction planned for next year.

Proceeds from the auction of 5G spectrum constitute a substantial part of the N632 billion revenue targeted by the NCC in its budget for 2022.

The Executive Vice Chairman, Nigerian Communication Commission(NCC), Professor, Umar Danbatta disclosed this when he defended the commission’s budget for 2022 before the National Assembly Joint Committee on Comunications on Monday.

He said the Federal Government is expected to earn N300 billion in revenue from the spectrum auction in 2022.

The NCC boss however seized the opportunity to reassure Nigerians that. based on research carried out
the Fifth Generation Network ( 5G) , will not be hazardous to users of the spectrum.

Danbata stressed that the 5G Spectrum network will boost the economy and propel accelerated social transformation.

Danbatta presented a budget estimate of N86.2 for recurrent expenditures, N29.36 Billion for Capital while N2.55 Billion is earmarked for Special Projects

He said the commission has generated N315billion from January -September 2021.
