IGP Kayode Egbetokun

The Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding the lives of residents in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State. He announced the deployment of additional Special Intervention Security Squads and equipment to tackle the perpetrators behind the recent killings in the area.

Egbetokun made this known during an on-the-spot assessment of the security situation in Bokkos.

Bokkos remains a top priority for the Nigeria Police Force. According to the IGP—represented by the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of operations, Kwazhi Yakubu—the visit was crucial to identifying the security lapses that attackers have exploited.

The DIG reassured the people of Bokkos of the Force’s unwavering commitment to bringing the perpetrators of the attacks to justice.

Some victims have appealed to the government to deploy more security personnel to the area, especially as the farming season approaches, so they can move about freely without fear.

During the visit, the DIG also held a stakeholders meeting with leaders from various communities. The focus was on improving security collaboration and promoting lasting peace in the region.
