Eleven persons have been reported killed with many others injuried following Tuesday night attack on Otobi community in Otukpo local government area of Benue state by suspected herdsmen.
The lawmaker representing Otukpo-Akpa state constituency at the Benue state house of assembly, Kennedy Angbo, disclosed this to our correspondent via phone noting that Nine corpses were recovered last night.
At the break of dawn however, another corpse was discovered, bringing the total to Eleven even as the Deputy Governor of the state Sam Ode , visits the scene of the attack to commiserate with the people and provide immediate relief.

He tasked the state emergency management agency to move in and provide basic necessity for all the victims.
The attack which started about 5:30pm on Tuesday has caused many to flee the community.
State police public relations officer Sewuese Anene said security has however been deployed and she was on her way to the area to get a full assessment.

The sustained attacks on communities by herdsmen beginning from Okpamaju to Asa One and Asa Two to Otobi all along the Otukpo-Ado road leading to Ebonyi state, is assuming a worrisome dimension as there had been no prior history of conflicts with herders in the area.
