Police in Zamfara State has rescued 24 kidnap victims in Shinkafi and Tsafe Local Government Areas of the state.
They include the four students of Government Day Secondary School Birnin Yero, in Shinkafi Local Council, who were abducted on their way back from writing the West Africa Examination Council, WAEC.
The Commissioner of Police in the State, Ayuba Elkana said the Police Tactical Operatives rescued the victims from different locations in Zamfara State, Northwest Nigeria.

The rescued 24 kidnap victims spent sixty days in captivity.
The four students of Government Day Secondary School Birnin Yero, in Shinkafi are among the rescued who were abducted while returning home after writing the West Africa Examination Council, WAEC.

A student of Biochemistry, Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, and eight others were also rescued along with the four students.

The Commissioner of Police in Zamfara State, Ayuba Elkana, explained that the Police Tactical Operatives deployed on the Gusau- Tsafe – Funtua road, also rescued eleven abducted passengers who were abducted by bandits while travelling at night at about 11:30 pm Nigerian time.

Zamfara State Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Dosara, who received the abducted victims on behalf of Governor Bello Mohammed, assured that the state government will ensure security around schools.

The police commissioner warned motorists to desist from entering the state at night, as the restricting order of the state government, stopping the movement of passengers into the state at night is still in force, and the police will deal with anyone found culpable.
