Zamfara

The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has conducted its Ward Congresses to elect new leadership of the party in the 147 wards across the 14 local government areas of the state.

The PDP National Headquarters in Abuja had sent 5-man Ward Congresses Electoral Committee for the exercise.

The exercise was conducted simultaneously across the state, in the presence of representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, led by Nasiru Saidu, and security agencies, who have been deployed to monitor the process and to ensure a hitch-free exercise.

The Chairman of the 5-man Electoral Committee, Zakka Sunday, commended the delegates for coming out in their numbers to elect new executives at the ward levels.

He said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP is well-positioned to take over power in 2023, as the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has failed to address the problems of insecurity, poverty, unemployment and the rising cost of food items in the market, among others.

The Caretaker Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Zamfara State, Colonel Bala Mande (Rtd) said the party ward congresses have demonstrated that the PDP is on ground in the state, and ready to grab power in the 2023 general election, given the track record of the party in Nigeria.

Colonel Bala Mande, who was the former Chief of Staff to Governor Bello Mohammed, said the PDP in the state adopted consensus, as the mode of election for the new ward executives, which was devoid of acrimony and rancour.

Gusau, the Zamfara State capital has five wards.

They included Sabon Gari, Galadima, Mayana, Tudun Wada and Dawaki Wards.
