Katsina Insecurity: Police arrests bandit involved in the killing of a District Head

Police in Katsina state has arrested and paraded one of the bandits who masterminded, shot and killed the late 55-year-old District Head of Yantumaki, Abubakar Atiku, and his night watchman, Gambo Isah, when they attacked his residence on June 1, 2020.

The arrest of one of the suspected killer bandits is coming one year and six months after the attack.

Spokesman of the command, Superintendent Gambo Isah, who gave the name of the suspected bandit as, 20-year-old Yusuf Abdullahi, also paraded 24 others for various crimes.

Parading the 20-year-old suspected member of the syndicate of bandits, Superintendent Gambo Isah, said his arrest was successful, following a tip-off, and series of investigations.

He added that efforts are on to arrest the remaining 4 members of the syndicate and their leader, one Shamsu, who are all hiding in the forest.

The 20-year-old suspected bandit and mastermind of the attack, Yusuf Abdullahi, confessed to killing the District Head and his night watchman, which was at the instance of their leader, Shamsu.

He added that their gang leader, Shamsu who is a bandit, was threatened by the district head, to be handed over to the police, as a result of his involvement in banditry activities, within the jurisdiction of the late district, a reason given for killing the district head.

Abdullah also said they stole 100 thousand Naira from the house during the attack, saying, he got nothing from the loot.

The suspect however pleaded for mercy, promising to cooperate with the police, to arrest the other fleeing members of his syndicate.

He said it was an examination from God, for which he now regrets.
