Kano Targets Over 4 million Children in April Polio Vaccination Campaign

Kano State Government has targeted 4.5 million children for the April 2025 Immunisation Plus Days, (IPDs) polio campaign.

This was announced during a Media dialogue, organised by the State government in collaboration with UNICEF and other partners, to mobilise public support, and media advocacy for the campaign.

In 2025 alone, Nigeria recorded 18 cases of polio across 9 States, with 3 cases traced to Kano’s Warawa, Bunkure and Nasarawa Local Government Areas.

UNICEF’s Chief of Field Office in Kano, represented by the Senior Education Manager, and Officer-in-Charge of the Field office, Michael Banda, emphasised the importance of sustained funding, and strengthening primary healthcare systems.
