Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), this Thursday failed to appear before the House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State oversight, making the second time in a series.
The Committee had invited Ibok-Ete Ibas last week Wednesday, but rescheduled the meeting after the Administrator’s formal request for a postponement.
However, during Thursday’s rescheduled appearance, Ibas failed to show up at the meeting which was scheduled for 3:00 pm (local time).
The Committee’s invitation was to discuss the State’s current political situation and governance under the declared State of Emergency rule.
The lawmakers went into a closed-door meeting after realising that Ibas would not honour their invitation, but came out without addressing the Media.
When journalists inquired from the Chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee, Reps Julius Ihonvbere, on why the Administrator refused to appear, he simply replied, “No comment”
