The Nigerian Navy has disclosed plans to immediately commence work on its Naval Operational base situated in the Benue State capital, Makurdi to address the security threats from the State’s river banks.
Chief of Naval staff Emmanuel Ogalla said this while inspecting the 176 hectares of land earmarked for the base which he says will enable the Navy respond faster to security threat along River Benue.
State Governor Hyacinth Alia was with the Navy delegation led by the chief of Naval Staff Emmanuel Ogalla to inspect the site for the proposed operational base
He called for the cooperation of community leaders and members of the public to win the fight against crime, adding that the modern concept of security requires that everyone plays his part for the safety of the community.

The 179 hectares of lands will serve as a launch base for naval operations covering the entire length of the river bank to enhance security for communities along the River Benue.
