Members of the Journalism Profession in Bauchi State have been asked to utilise the power of technology and leverage the new media platforms in promoting accurate and timely information dissemination to the people.
The Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Sulaiman, made the call when he was declaring open a two-day retreat, organised for the members of the Bauchi State Government House Press Directorate, held in Kano State, Northwest Nigeria.

The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Bauchi State Governor, Mukhtar Gidado, said capacity-building training will serve as a platform, for shaping the technical and ethical knowledge of members of the pen profession, to go in line with global best practices.

Mukhtar Gidado, highlighted some of the developmental projects executed by the Bala Mohammed-led administration for sustainable economic growth and development of the state.

Bauchi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Usman Shehu, said the retreat is coming at a very critical time, when technology has made everyone become a journalist without having the required ethical principles.
He called on the participants to put what they learnt into practice.

During the retreat, four papers were presented by veteran journalists and erudite scholars.
