Nigeria is taking significant steps forward in its Environmental Agenda with the launch of a new Environmental Standards Certification Scheme designed to build a skilled workforce that can foster environmental sustainability and protect Nigeria’s environment for future generations.
Minister of Environment, Balarabe Lawal at the launch of the certification scheme in Abuja said the programme signals a commitment from the Federal Government to invest in Nigeria’s green future.
Described as a milestone in sub-Saharan Africa, the “Environmental Standards Certification Scheme” is designed to enhance the capacity of skilled professionals in addressing pressing environmental challenges facing Nigeria.
Minister of Environment, Balarabe Lawal represented by the Permanent Secretary, Adams Kambari, said the scheme is more than just a certification but also a journey towards strengthening the country’s environmental sustainability.
Participants in the scheme will be exposed to comprehensive training in areas crucial for environmental sustainability, such as waste management, pollution control, and sustainable resource utilization.
The program is expected to provide a crucial boost to Nigeria’s ability to meet its environmental commitments and also protect the nation’s natural resources.
