Pillars Academy Wins As Umo Eno U-16 Unity Cup Ends in Uyo

The 2025 edition of the Umo Eno U-16 Unity Cup has ended in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State as the pillars soccer Academy emerged the overall winners.

This year’s edition which is the 4th, witnessed a highly competitive football with over 20 teams within and outside Akwa Ibom.

Out of the 21 teams that took part in this year’s edition,4 teams came from imo,Abia, Enugu and plateau States.

The final match which took place in Uyo township Stadium was keenly contested between the pillars soccer Academy and the Redemption FA which ended Goalless at the regulation time and the pillars triumph 5-4 on penalties.

The winners of this year ‘s edition went home with 2m naira with a goal platted trophy and goal medals, while the 1st runner’s up went home with 1.5m, a silver plated trophy and a silver medal and the 2nd runner ‘s up,1m and Bronze medals respectively.

Also,all the participating teams got a consolation price of N50 ,000 while individual award winners in the categories of highest goal scorer, MVP, Golden glove, Golden ball, silver ball etc went home with N50,000 each alongside medals and individual trophies.

The event was graced with notable personalities of no mean reputes in no particular order, Elder Paul Bassey,, commissioner of Sports ably represented,coach Lawrence Iquaibom, Coach Edwin Okon, a fmr National team coach,the chairman,YSFON, Always Ibom State Chapter, assistant director, ministry of Sports as well as staff snd members, ministry of sports.
