Nigerian Army Captains Write Promotional Exams To Rank of Major

Military authorities in Nigeria have said that 86 Army officers of the rank of Captain from various units and formations are presently at the Army School of Supply and Transport in Benin City, Edo State to take a written promotional examination to the rank of Major.

The examination which is being conducted by the Nigerian Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), is expected to assess candidates in 6 subject areas such as challenges experienced during peace keeping.

President of the Examination Board and Commander, Training And Doctrine Command, Maj.-Gen. Kevin Aligbe arrived the examination centre on Monday where he inspected a guard of honour before proceeding to address the candidates.

At the briefing on the modalities for the examination, Major General Aligbe acknowledged the importance of the Captain to Major written Promotion Examination which he say was designed to evaluate the proficiency of officers at the rank of Captain to develop their leadership capabilities for higher responsibilities in the Nigerian Army.

According to him, each of the 86 candidates is expected to score a minimum of 50% in all 6 subjects that will be taken covering current global challenges in terrorism and Insurgency, logical reasoning, exercises, operations and challenges experienced in peace keeping.

The Commandant, School of Supply and Transport, Major General Adebayo Adegbite welcomed the candidates to the School while also advising them on the need to avoid malpractices and to put in the seriousness and determination that would produce the best results.

ait.live correspondent in Benin city reports that the 2025 Captain to Rank of Major Written Promotion Examination of the Nigerian Army is the third edition since it berthed in 2023.
