Nasarawa State Police Command says it has, through an intensive manhunt, arrested a suspected notorious kidnapper, Abashed Gizo, who had been on the wanted list of the Command over several criminal offences.

In a statement made available to journalists in Lafia, the state police command’s public relations officer, Ranham Nansel, explained that the arrest of Abashed Gizo at the popular Shingle Cattle market in Lafia, was carried out by operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

The statement noted that upon interrogation, the suspect who has been on the Command’s wanted list for alleged multiple offences, including kidnapping and cattle rustling,
confessed to the crimes and led officers to his hideout at Ruwan Baka village in Doma LGA, where one AK-49 rifle and a magazine were recovered.

The command also said his arrest is sequel to the arrest of Fatima Salisu, who was intercepted while transporting a cache of ammunition from Doma to Katsina State, intended for criminal elements.
