The Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia has expressed sadness over the sudden passing of Senator Joseph Akaagerger, whose demise occurred on Thursday, May 15th, 2025, at the age of 69 years.

A statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula described the retired. Lieutenant who served as a Military Administrator of Katsina State, as a patriotic Nigerian, and one who gave the nation and Benue State his very best during his life time.

The Press statement added that as a lawmaker and Senator who represented Benue North-East Senatorial District (Zone A), the late Senator equally proved his quality in politics, business, community service and philanthropy.

The Governor regrets the sad demise, stating that the State will miss Akaagerger’s contributions, particularly his counsel and engagements as an elder statesman and prominent member of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Elders Forum in Benue State, all of which were geared towards the growth and development of the people and State.

He prayed God to console the late Senator’s immediate family, his associates and the entire people of Benue State and Nigeria as a whole, urging them to take comfort in the legacies he left behind and build on it to honour his memory.

He equally prayed to God to grant the soul of late Senator Joseph Akaagerger eternal rest.
