The National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies , says Nigeria has made appreciable progress despite the current challenges facing the nation.
The Director-General of the institute, Prof. Abubakar Sulaiman during a Media briefing in Abuja even rated the 10th National Assembly high in terms of bills, motions, and parliamentary conduct.
According to Prof Sulaiman, Nigeria’s democracy and parliament had shown notable progress though at a slow pace but there has to be a deliberate improvement to tackle insecurity and stimulate economic growth so as to reflect on the lives of the citizens.

The Director General however expressed Concerns over democratic governance at the sub nationals insisting that there is development at the national level leaving the state and the Local Govts at the mercies of undemocratic leaders.That cannot be said to be an inclusive democracy and governance.
Prof Sulaiman also spoke on gender inclusivity, youths participation amongst others during the Media chat which was part of the activities to mark the second anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and his own sixth anniversary as Director General of the institute .
