The Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), in ondo state has taken to the streets to express grievances over alleged interference by the State Police Command in the affairs of the union.
Led by the Chairman, Adebayo Aladerotoun, the union members demanded the immediate return of some of the property of the union including vehicle confiscated by the police.
Aladerotoun who disclosed that the Toyota Sienna vehicle in question was bought from the contributions made by union members appealed to the Inspector General of Police to intervene and reverse the decision, also called on other relevant government agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), to prevail on the police to toe the path of peace.
While reacting to the development, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state,Olusola Ayanlade who dissociated the command from the allegations made by the union against the police said the command is Only acting on the orders of the court.
