The Anglican Archbishop of Kaduna, Most Reverend Timothy Yahaya, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to take action against political parties engaged in premature campaigning, with nearly two years left until the 2027 general elections.

Most Reverend Yahaya made the statement during the 23rd Synod of the Church in Kaduna.

The 23rd Synod of the Anglican Archdiocese of Kaduna, held under the theme “God is Able”, brought a message of hope to Nigerians, reflecting on the current socio-economic challenges facing the country.

During his address, Most Reverend Timothy Yahaya, the Anglican Archbishop of Kaduna, voiced concerns about the ongoing political campaigns, despite two years remaining in the current administration.

He expressed dissatisfaction with the early politicking and urged INEC to take immediate steps to curb the practice, emphasising that it does not reflect well on the nation.

The Archbishop also shared his disappointment regarding the increasing number of defections, stressing that many of the defections are driven by personal interests rather than the well-being of the country.

Most Reverend Yahaya encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful, assuring them that despite the current challenges, there is still hope for a brighter future if the nation continues to place trust in God.
