At a time when access to quality healthcare remains out of reach for many, the wife of the governor of Cross River State, Eyoanwan Otu, is offering more than just medical aid, she is offering hope.
Her free medical outreach, now in its seventh edition, has once again brought life-saving care to those who need it most.
At the General Hospital in Calabar, joy and relief now echo through the wards, as patients, many of whom had lost hope, receive free medical attention through a vision powered by compassion.
At the heart of it all is the wife of the governor of Cross River State, Eyoanwan Otu, who flagged off the 7th edition of the Free Medical Outreach and the 1st International Medical Outreach.
The outreach, which runs from June 16th to 21st, offers a wide range of medical services, from surgeries and dental care to eye treatment and lab investigations, all free of charge.
Behind the grateful smiles are real numbers, 705 free surgeries, over 2,000 eye care services, hundreds of dental and lab procedures, and more than 5,000 general consultations
But for the wife of the governor, it is not about the statistics, it is about stories.
As part of the outreach, Otu also launched the Cross River State Health Insurance Scheme for the elderly, covering citizens aged 65 and above.
