The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), has announced plans to support the government to tackle the challenge of malnutrition in the country.

The President of the Association, Professor Bala Audu, disclosed this when he and the Zamfara State Chairman stopped over at the Gusau Orphanage Home, to donate drugs, food items and health education materials to vulnerable children at the centre.

Reports show that several millions of children in Nigeria are suffering from malnutrition, and different child killer diseases, especially the vulnerable ones, who need support from all public-spirited individuals.

This perhaps may have informed the establishment of the Nigerian Medical Association, (NMA) Aid Foundation, as a direct response to the challenge which, according to the Association’s President, Professor Bala Audu, is meant to help the vulnerable population in healthcare delivery, education and nutrition.

The medical professional body has therefore hit the ground running as it took their support to Zamfara State, where they donated drugs, food and health education materials to the vulnerable members of the society.

The State Chairman of the NMA, Dr Ibrahim Hano, urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the drugs, and ensure the children receive a balanced meal, to enhance their well-being.

The Head of the Gusau Orphanage Home, Rashidat Dauran, thanked the NMA for the gesture, and assured that the items will be utilised, to benefit the children.

The NMA President said, the idea is a focus, a deliberate and purpose-driven target, to help the vulnerable population in the 36 States of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT), Abuja, with three major components of support.
