The Osun State House of Assembly has said that all Local Government officials  elected during polls conducted by the State Independent Electoral Commission on February 22 this year are the only legitimate and constitutionally recognized officials of the State councils.

The lawmakers also declared that any purported recognition of Local government officials elected in 2022 under former Governor Oyetola remains unconstitutional and invalid .

In their separate contributions during plenary session in Oshogbo on Thursday, the members accused the Attorney-General of the Federation for being partisanship and biased in the ongoing Local government Areas administration crisis in Osun State.

The lawmakers emphatically declared that only officials elected during the February 2025 Local government Council elections conducted by OSSIEC are the only legitimate political authorities in tbe State Local Government councils as it stands today.

The Speaker of the House, Adewale Egbedun, who presided, put the resolution to a voice vote, which was unanimously adopted by the House.

The Osun State legislators also cautioned the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), against releasing Local Government Areas allocations to the sacked APC chairmen, pointing out that a Court ruling had removed them from office and the State electoral commission had officially withdrawn their Certificates of Return.
