The Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, says the nation will continue to appreciate the sacrifice of fallen heroes, who laid down their lives to defend the sovereignty, and integrity of the nation.

He was speaking at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, when the Kebbi Chapter of the Military Widows’ Association visited him.

Idris added that no responsible leader will ever forget their husbands who paid the supreme price, to safeguard our wellbeing as a people.

He said, “We shall not be where we are today without the valour, gallantry and nationalism demonstrated by fallen soldiers, in keeping the nation a united entity.”

Idris assured that, “the Kebbi State Government will continue to assist you in whatever way necessary, and shall supply you with a vehicle to ease your movement as you requested.”

The Chairperson of the Kebbi Chapter, Military Widows’ Association, Asama’u Umar, thanked Governor Nasir Idris for his compassion for the widows, and the recognition of the sacrifice made by their late spouses.

She says, “The situation of a widow is one of pain and struggle, Your Excellency; you’ve shown compassion, sympathy and empathy to the families of fallen soldiers.

You stood by us in our period of tribulations; you restored hope and dignity to us through welfarism, charity and empowerment.

The military widows, more than 500 of us, in our collective capacity, have decided to present an award to you, in recognition of your compassion and care,” she added.
