Customs Joint Patrol Intercepts 550 Live Ammunition, others

The Joint Border Patrol Team, a Sector 3, in charge of the North Central States, has intercepted a large quantity of live ammunition of 550 cartridges, contained in 22 packs of 25 pieces each.

The Coordinator of the Team, Comptroller Olugboyega Peters, disclosed this at Customs Base in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital while giving updates on the team’s operations.

The Coordinator of the North Central Joint Border Patrol Team, Comptroller Olugboyega Peters, while giving the update on forty-sections of his team, said the joint border Patrol recorded forty-six seizures of various items during the period under review.

Olugboyega while giving further breakdown, noted that 31,273 litres of Premium Motor Spirit in various jerry cans, 751 bags of foreign parboiled rice, including 550 pump action cartridges, were some of the items smuggled into the country during the period, all valued at about twenty-nine million two hundred and seventy-three thousand three hundred Naira only.

Peters urged the residents under his zone, to see Customs officers and other security officers as friends.

Olugboyega Peters said his team will continue to ensure effective border patrol to forestall illegal activities along the national borderline.
