Senator Barau Jibrin

Deputy President of the Senate Barau Jibrin has distanced himself from recent calls by the Northern Nigeria Progressive Youth Assembly (NNPYA) urging President Bola Tinubu to choose him as his running mate in the 2027 general election.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau appealed to the NNPYA to cease such campaigns and instead focus their support on the current administration’s efforts to address national challenges.

Senator Barau, who also serves as the First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, emphasized that what Nigeria needs now is unity and collective effort, not political distractions.

He further urged the group and the broader public to rally behind President Tinubu to ensure the successful implementation of his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the administration, Senator Barau noted that all Nigerians must work with the President in building a better nation.
