Super Falcons head coach Justin Madugu says he is not under pressure to deliver Nigeria’s 10th WAFCON title as the team intensifies preparations for the tournament in Morocco.

Nigeria will be seeking a 10th continental title in Morocco having won nine of 12 championships that have been contested since the CAF launched the event as a tournament in 1998 – to become Africa’s most decorated women’s national team.

The Falcons will tackle Tunisia, Botswana and Algeria in group B of the competition, at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca. They will begin their campaign on Sunday, July 6, against Tunisia in Casablanca.

With expectations high ahead of the tournament, the coach reaffirmed the team’s ultimate goal, despite the enormous task.

The Super Falcons have entered the final stretch of their preparations for the tournament, after arriving in the North African country on Wednesday.

Twenty-two players arrived in Casablanca, the Moroccan capital on Wednesday night, joining up with Bay FC forward Asisat Oshoala and China-based Folasade Ijamilusi, who had arrived days earlier.

The 24-player squad will embark on other phases of their training before filing out against Ghana in their last friendly and warm-up game before the tournament on Sunday.

Before arriving in Morocco, coach Justin Madugu’s side faced Portugal in their penultimate warm-up game on Monday, forcing their hosts to a goalless draw in Lisbon.
