Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, one-time President of the Senate, David Mark, six former Governors and other prominent figures of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP have held a closed-door meeting in Abuja, barely 24 hours after their party’s National Executive Committee, NEC meeting.

The meeting tagged “Gathering of PDP’s Eminent National Leaders” was held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel with a call on other members of the PDP and opposition parties to join the coalition to unseat President Bola Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress, APC in the 2027 general election.

The group accuses vested interests from within and irresponsible actions of the APC-led Federal Government in using state institutions to stifle and destroy Nigeria’s democracy.

They also say the inability of PDP national leadership to lead the party by its Constitution, rules and regulations led it to becoming a chaotic and undisciplined party. This they say has left Nigeria without a strong opposition, and an embarrassment on the world stage.

AIT.live gathered that the meeting presided over by former President of the Senate, David Mark focused on whether the PDP leaders will fully integrate into the proposed 2027 coalition party or maintain their positions within the party while forming an electoral alliance.

Other PDP figures in attendance were Senator Ben Obi, former PDP National Women Leader Josephine Anenih, former National Organising Secretary Senator Austin Akobundu, former National Publicity Secretary Kola Ologbondiyan, and former National Youth Leader Abdullahi Maibasira, among others.
