The Nigerian Air Force Special Operations Command in Bauchi has held the second phase of its engagement programme known as “Pally ” with retired veterans.
The Air Officer Commanding Special Operations Command Bauchi Air Vice Marshal Usman Abdullahi, said the Pally is inline with the initiative of the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) to bring the veterans close to the Air Force and monitor their life after Serving their Country well, and to as well draw from their wealth of experience to tackle security challenges across the country.
The Pally also featured lectures on managing physical and mental health, financial planning, and sustaining economic stability after retirement, all aimed at ensuring a smooth transition into civilian life.
Speaking on behalf of the Air officer Commanding Special Operations Command, Air Vice Marshal Abdullahi Bello, said retirement is not a death sentence but rather, a new phase of life.
He urged veterans to see themselves as valuable assets capable of contributing meaningfully to their communities.
Some of the retired officers shared their post-service experiences, expressing readiness to support efforts in addressing insecurity in their respective localities.
The event was wrapped up with a symbolic handshake from the Chief of Air Staff represented by Air Vice Marshal Abdullahi Bello to the veterans as part of appreciation and solidarity to officially bring the second phase of the Pally to an end.
The Air Force hopes that engagements like this will strengthen the bond between serving and retired personnel, while also enhancing community-based intelligence to support national security efforts.
