President Bola Tinubu has given the Nigerian Army full authorisation to go all out and dismantle the nation’s adversaries.

The directive was delivered during the 2025 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL), held in Kaduna.

The Nigerian Army Day Celebration commemorates the founding and achievements of the Nigerian Army, tracing its origin to July 6, 1863, when the Glover Hausas was formally recognised as a military unit.

Since its first celebration in Lagos in 1978, NADCEL has become a symbol of pride and reflection for the military, honouring service, sacrifice, and national defence.

This year’s celebration, themed “Developing the Soldier First Concept: Imperative for the Nigerian Army Transformation Drive,” places troop welfare, capacity development, and professionalism at the heart of the Army’s reform agenda.

The event featured displays of combat and support equipment, highlighting the operational capabilities and resilience of the Nigerian Army in addressing contemporary security threats.

In his address, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, noted that this year’s celebration is holding at a time when many troops are deployed across various theatres of operation nationwide.

He reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to innovation, collaboration with sister services, and strategic reforms aimed at restoring peace and stability.

Representing the President, Vice President Kashim Shettima commended the Army for its unwavering commitment in 162 years.

He said the Federal Government is fully aware of the complex security challenges confronting the nation.

President Tinubu, through the Vice President, assured the military of continued support and authorised them to go all out, without restraint in confronting and defeating all forces threatening Nigeria’s sovereignty

As the Nigerian Army celebrates its enduring legacy, the message from the nation’s leadership is total support for a stronger, more effective military, with an unwavering mandate to secure Nigeria’s future.
