President Tinubu has sacked the country’s Service Chiefs, approving major changes in the hierarchy of Nigeria’s Armed Forces, with appointment of new Service Chiefs in a move aimed at strengthening the country’s national security framework.
According to a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, the President appointed the immediate past Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff, replacing General Christopher Musa.
Others appointed include Major-General W. Shaibu as new Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff. The Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye, retains his position.

President Tinubu expressed profound appreciation to the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff and other former Service Chiefs for their patriotic service and dedicated leadership.
He charged the newly appointed officers to “justify the confidence reposed in them” by enhancing professionalism, vigilance, and comradeship across the Armed Forces.
All the appointments, the statement noted, take immediate effect.
