Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, is presiding over a State Executive Council meeting at the Kano State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja.
The meeting, being attended by commissioners, is chaired by Governor Yusuf amid rumours of a possible defection from the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP.
Governor Yusuf, who travelled to Abuja with members of his cabinet as well as journalists covering Kano State Government activities, urged council members to remain open-minded as deliberations commence on issues not disclosed to the press, thereby heightening suspense from reporters.
Governor Yusuf described the meeting as a special one, calling for unity, understanding, and collective responsibility as discussions progress behind closed doors.

The Governor further appealed to members to remain objective as deliberations continue.
There is heightened suspense surrounding the outcome of the meeting, especially as it comes amid persistent rumours of Governor Yusuf’s plan to defect to the All Progressives Congress, APC, raising questions about the choice of Abuja as the venue.
As at the time of filing this report, deliberations are ongoing. While journalists remain on standby for official briefings at the end of the meeting.
