Members of the Edo State House of Assembly this Tuesday resumed plenary to what was described as a shocking discovery of a bullet inside the Anthony Enahoro Assembly Complex in Benin City.
Addressing journalists after the discovery, Majority Leader of the House, Jonathan Ibhamanwu, disclosed that the matter has been handed over to relevant security agencies in the state for investigation.
The Lawmakers had returned to the Edo State House of Assembly on the 10th of February, 2026, from their December 2025 recess to resume plenary.
Although journalists are barred from accessing the scene, it is alleged that a bullet hole was discovered on the ceiling, while a bullet was reportedly found on one of the tables inside the chamber.

Majority Leader of the House, Jonathan Ibhamanwu, confirms that relevant security agencies have been notified and assures that a thorough investigation will be conducted.
He further stated that members of the House are safe and urges the public to remain calm, stressing that there is no cause for alarm.
As investigations continue, the Edo State House of Assembly says it will cooperate fully with security agencies to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
