Two persons have been arrested for allegedly transporting 339 wraps of cannabis sativa from Ekiti State to Yola in Adamawa State.
They were arrested while transiting through Kogi state and paraded along with other suspects arrested for kidnapping and banditry; as law enforcement agents continue their crackdown on crime in the confluence state
The Kogi State Police Commissioner, Naziru Kankarofi, paraded the suspects at the Command Headquarters in Lokoja, explaining that officers intercepted the vehicle carrying the illicit cargo during a routine stop.
Beyond drug trafficking, the Commissioner highlighted recent police breakthroughs in combating kidnapping and banditry across Kogi State.
When questioned, the suspects gave conflicting accounts of their involvement and denied knowing the scale of the operation.
The command will hand over both suspects and the confiscated narcotics to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, for prosecution.
