Widows in Kaduna State have called on the Federal and State Governments to intensify efforts to address insecurity and provide support for vulnerable groups affected by economic hardship.

The appeal was made during a prayer gathering organised by widows in Kaduna.

For many widows in Kaduna State, life has become a daily struggle defined by insecurity, economic hardship and uncertainty about the future of their children.

At a modest gathering of women clad in mourning attire, prayers were accompanied by stories of pain, loss and resilience.

Many of the widows said they are burdened not only by the loss of their husbands but also by rising living costs, persistent insecurity and the challenge of single-handedly caring for their families.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Deborah Emmanuel said the prayer gathering was organised to seek divine intervention in Nigeria’s security and economic challenges.

She urged widows not to lose hope despite their circumstances, expressing confidence that better days lie ahead.

The women also expressed concern over the growing wave of kidnappings and violent attacks, saying many families now live in fear and uncertainty.

They appealed to government at all levels to pay greater attention to the welfare of widows and other vulnerable groups, noting that many are struggling to meet basic needs.

For the participants, the gathering was also an opportunity to share their experiences, draw strength from one another and renew hope that their calls for security, support and a better future will be heard.
