Former Edo State Governor and Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Adams Oshiomhole has thrown his weight behind Governor Monday Okpebholo’s proposal to establish a special court dedicated to the speedy trial of suspected kidnappers.
He made the remarks during the APC flag-off campaign for the forthcoming local government elections in Edo North, where Governor Monday Okpebholo joined other party leaders in mobilising support for the party’s candidates.
Edo State already has a law prescribing death penalty for convicted kidnappers, Governor Monday Okpebholo believes justice must also be swift.
To achieve this, he has proposed the establishment of a special court dedicated to the speedy trial of kidnapping cases.
The initiative has received the backing of former Edo State Governor and Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Adams Oshiomhole, who endorsed the Governor’s move during the APC campaign rally in Edo North.
Governor Monday Okpebholo, Minister of Regional Development Abubakar Momoh, APC State Chairman Jarrett Tenebe and other party leaders urged residents to vote massively for the APC candidates in next month’s local government elections.
With the Edo North rally concluded, the APC has now completed its senatorial district campaign flag-offs across the state ahead of the forthcoming local government council elections.
