The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Owerri zone, has threatened industrial action and disruption of academic activities in State-owned universities of Anambra and Imo.
Addressing journalists in Awka, Anambra State, the Zonal Coordinator, Professor Dennis Aribodor, said the union is concerned over unresolved issues at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) and Imo State University (IMSU).
He called on Governors Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State and Hope Uzodimma of Imo State to intervene urgently to avert a shutdown.
The union also expressed worry over the non-implementation of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement in the two States owned universities.
The Owerri zone of ASUU covers both Federal Government and State Governments owned universities in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States.
