The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) says it will issue a statement on the ‘arrest’ of the immediate past Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, on Wednesday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, upon arrival from Enugu via a chartered flight.

Speaking with AIT Correspondent Ebuwa Omo-Osagie via telephone, Head of Information in the commission, John Odey, declined comment on the ‘arrest’, insisting that the commission will issue a statement on the matter at the appropriate time.

The ICPC had been on the trail of the former minister since he resigned from office last year following investigations that revealed he forged his academic certificates.

In June, a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the ICPC to arrest Nnaji for investigation into the certificate forgery scandal.

The court also granted the commission leave to declare him wanted through national newspapers, social media platforms, and other media.

Earlier, Security sources said Nnaji was arrested on Wednesday by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Enugu and subsequently handed over to the ICPC over allegations of certificate forgery.
