The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to strengthening civil-military relations to enhance lasting peace and security across the nation.
General Shaibu stated this during the handover of a newly renovated community primary and secondary school in Rumuomasi, Rivers State.
He noted that the project is one of several initiatives executed across the state’s three senatorial districts to mark the 163rd anniversary of the Nigerian Army.
Community leaders and dignitaries gathered at the Community Primary and Secondary School in Rumuomasi, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, to witness the official handover of the facility.
During the ceremony, the Chief of Army Staff emphasized that there are several other projects across the three senatorial districts in celebration of the 163 years anniversary of the Nigerian army.
General Shaibu urged community leaders to take ownership of the facility and protect it from vandalism.
He further called for continued support of President Tinubu’s resolve to combat terrorism, stressing the importance of providing timely intelligence to security agencies.
Dignitaries in attendance lauded the Army Chief for the gesture, describing it as a welcome contribution to educational development in the state.
The elated students, who were also gifted new uniforms and school bags,entertained the military officers with vibrant cultural displays and honoured the army chief with a portrait painting in recognition of his service.
