As African countries intensify efforts to boost intra-continental trade, the Nigeria Customs Service and the African Export-Import Bank, Afreximbank, are expanding their partnership to fast-track timplementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area, AfCFTA.

During a working visit to the Nigeria Customs Service headquarters in Abuja, President of Afreximbank George Elombi and the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi identified new areas of cooperation aimed at deepening regional trade integration.

The partnership will support the development of one-stop border posts, strengthen regional transit systems and promote global best practices to speed up the movement of goods across African borders while improving customs administration.

The meeting also reviewed the success of the Customs Partnership for African Cooperation in Trade, C-PACT, which brought together customs administrations, development partners and private sector stakeholders to harmonise customs procedures, strengthen institutional capacity and improve trade connectivity across the continent.
