The Edo State Police Command has announced a restriction of movement across the state ahead of the Local Government Council Elections scheduled for Saturday, 11th of July, 2026.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, the restriction will take effect from 12:00 midnight until 6:00 pm on election day as part of security measures to ensure a peaceful, orderly and credible electoral process.
The Command says all vehicular and human movement will be prohibited during the period, except for officials of the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission, accredited election observers, accredited media personnel, security agencies, emergency responders and other essential service providers on official election duty.

ASP Ikoedem says the restriction is aimed at protecting voters, election officials, and sensitive materials while preventing any breakdown of law and order during the polls.
The Police spokesperson added that security personnel have been deployed across the eighteen Local Government Areas of the state to enforce the directive and maintain public safety.
She warns that anyone found violating the restriction or engaging in activities capable of disrupting the election will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
