Vice President Kashim Shettima says the true measure of a fulfilled life is not the wealth accumulated, but the number of lives positively impacted.
The Vice President made the remark at the 80th birthday celebration and public presentation of the autobiography of former Plateau State Governor and Senator, Jonah David Jang.
Vice President Kashim Shettima described Senator Jonah Jang as a patriotic leader who dedicated his life to the peace, unity and development of Plateau State and Nigeria. He commended the former governor’s commitment to nation-building and wished him many more years of service.
Senator Jonah Jang has served the nation in several capacities, including as Military Governor of the old Gongola and Benue States, Governor of Plateau State, and Senator representing Plateau North. It was little surprise that the event attracted dignitaries from across the country, many of whom shared personal accounts of his leadership, courage and contributions to national development.
The celebrant, fondly known as Baba Jang, said he was initially reluctant to write his autobiography but was persuaded to document his experiences in the hope that future generations would learn from his life’s journey.
Senator Jang also expressed profound appreciation to his wife, children and family for their unwavering support throughout his years in public service. He thanked friends, associates and well-wishers for joining him to celebrate the milestone.
