The Kwara State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in its relentless crackdown on kidnapping, cultism, armed robbery, banditry and other violent crimes, arresting 18 suspected criminals, including a woman, and recovering firearms, stolen property, electronic gadgets and rustled cattle across the state.
Addressing journalists in Ilorin the state capital, the Commissioner of Police, CP. Adekimi Ojo, attributed the achievements to intelligence-led policing and proactive security operations carried out in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
The Police Commissioner disclosed that operatives successfully rescued a 26-year-old kidnap victim, Shekinat Mukaila, unhurt during a coordinated operation in Wande Community, while a suspect believed to have aided the kidnappers was arrested.
CP Ojo also announced the arrest of a suspected member of a notorious kidnapping syndicate in Patigi community, revealing that intelligence obtained from the suspect has opened fresh leads in the ongoing manhunt for kidnappers operating within forest corridors in the state.
He further confirmed the arrest and prosecution of a woman accused of strangling a three-year-old girl in Kaiama over an alleged family dispute.
