President Bola Ahmed Tinubu says his administration remains committed to providing critical infrastructure that will have a direct impact on the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

The President stated this at the flag-off of the reconstruction of the 122-kilometre Birnin Gwari-Kaduna Road in Afaka, Kaduna State, North-West Nigeria.

The flag-off ceremony for the reconstruction of the 122-kilometre Birnin Gwari-Kaduna Road attracted top government officials, traditional rulers, members of the National Assembly and host communities.

The ₦178 billion project is aimed at improving security, boosting commerce and enhancing connectivity between Northern and Southern Nigeria.

The project is expected to be completed within twenty-four months.

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, said the Tinubu administration remains committed to improving the welfare of Nigerians through strategic infrastructure development.

The minister assured Nigerians that the Federal Ministry of Works would ensure strict supervision and adherence to approved quality standards throughout the execution of the project.

President Bola Tinubu, represented by the Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, said the reconstruction of the Birnin Gwari-Kaduna Road fulfils a promise he made during his 2022 campaign visit to Birnin Gwari.

He recalled that despite security concerns at the time, he visited the area and pledged to restore security and reconstruct the road.

Governor Uba Sani also disclosed that the President’s recent approval of funding for the Kaduna Light Rail Project further demonstrates the Federal Government’s commitment to delivering critical infrastructure across Kaduna State.

The Birnin Gwari-Kaduna Road is regarded as a strategic economic corridor linking Kaduna State with parts of Niger, Kwara, Osun, Oyo and Lagos States.

Expectations are
that the completion of the project will improve trade, strengthen security, reduce travel time and promote regional integration.
