Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has visited the family of the abducted Bungudu Local Government Chairman, Nura Umar, calling for stronger community support in the fight against insecurity.

Governor Lawal also alleged that informants are contributing to the worsening security situation in the state.

Governor Dauda Lawal, who was out of the country when the incident occurred, returned a week later and proceeded to Bungudu, accompanied by his deputy, Mani Mummuni, and other senior government officials.

The Governor first visited the Emir of Bungudu, His Royal Highness Hassan Attahiru, where he commiserated with the monarch and the entire Bungudu community over the attack that claimed the lives of about five people and led to the abduction of the Local Government Chairman and several others.

The governor maintained his administration’s position against negotiating with bandits, insisting that communities must work together with security agencies to end the insecurity.
