As part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s economy and deepen the cashless policy, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has urged Nigerians to embrace digital payment channels and formal banking services instead of keeping cash at home.
The apex bank says financial inclusion remains critical to economic growth, poverty reduction, and job creation.
The Acting Director of Corporate Communications and Investor Relations, Central Bank of Nigeria, Hakama Sidi Ali made this known during the CBN Fair held in Bauchi.
Participants drawn from financial institutions, government agencies, security organisations, business groups and educational institutions attended the sensitisation programme, which focused on digital payment innovations, consumer protection, foreign exchange reforms and the proper handling of the naira.
Addressing participants, the Acting Director of Corporate Communications and Investor Relations, Hakama Sidi Ali, represented by the Deputy Director, Michael Dalyop, described the CBN Fair as one of the Bank’s strategic public engagement platforms aimed at educating Nigerians on its policies and initiatives.

She said the initiative is designed to promote sustainable economic growth, strengthen public confidence in the financial system, and provide citizens with an opportunity to offer feedback on policies that affect their livelihoods.
The Controller of the CBN Bauchi Branch, represented by Assistant Director Salahu Mohammed, also urged Nigerians to adopt digital payment channels and formal banking services rather than keeping cash at home.
He stressed that expanding financial inclusion is key to reducing poverty, creating employment opportunities, and driving sustainable economic development.
The Central Bank of Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to sustained public enlightenment campaigns aimed at deepening financial inclusion, strengthening confidence in the nation’s financial system, and supporting inclusive economic growth.
