Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, alongside other Nigerian governors and senior government officials, is set to represent Nigeria at the maiden Canada-Africa Investment Summit on Digital Rails and Inclusive Growth in Toronto, Canada.

The summit, scheduled for Monday, August 10 to Friday, August 15, 2026, is expected to provide a platform for governments, investors, multinational companies and development finance institutions to explore strategic investment opportunities.

Governor Dauda Lawal’s participation follows an invitation from the Presidency, according to a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris.

The statement says the Governor’s involvement is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s economic and diplomatic engagement while providing opportunities for Zamfara State to attract investments and strategic partnerships.

The Nigeria Diaspora Investment Economic Conference, NIDEC, is described as a global platform that connects governments, investors, multinational corporations, development finance institutions and other stakeholders to explore investment opportunities.

For Zamfara State, the conference is being viewed as a strategic economic mission aimed at attracting investment, technology transfer, development financing and technical partnerships.

The State Government says these partnerships will support its economic transformation, particularly in agribusiness, strategic minerals development, human capital and digital innovation.

The summit is also expected to support President Bola Tinubu’s economic and energy transition objectives and deepen Africa-Canada economic cooperation.

Other members of the Nigerian delegation include the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo; Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum; Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani; and Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang.

Also attending are the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole; and Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, among others.
