Youths are the future of Nigeria and the driving force behind the nation’s growth and development.
As the world marks International Youth Day on August 12 every year, attention was once again drawn to the need to empower young people and create opportunities for them to thrive.
In Abuja, the Skyewise Foundation marked the day with a gathering focused on youth empowerment, leadership and the shared aspirations of young people from different backgrounds.
The event, themed “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” brought together young people and key stakeholders for conversations on the challenges, opportunities and responsibilities of the younger generation.
The speakers emphasised the importance of creating an enabling environment where young people can develop their skills, pursue their aspirations and contribute meaningfully to national development.
They also stressed the need for young people to move beyond identifying challenges to becoming part of the solution by turning their ideas and aspirations into practical initiatives.
The event ended with a renewed call for greater support and investment in young people, with the Skyewise Foundation providing a platform to amplify their voices, inspire confidence and encourage them to take advantage of opportunities available to them.
