The Plateau State Government has approved the establishment of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
The State Commissioner for Information, Joyce Ramnap disclosed this while briefing journalists after the State Executive Council meeting, at the Government House in Little Rayfield, Jos.
According to the Commissioner, the decision followed a careful consideration of the growing need for coordinated humanitarian interventions and poverty reduction programmes in the state.
She says the new ministry will also provide a structure that aligns Plateau State with the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.

The State Executive Council also approved the installation of streetlights and CCTV cameras at strategic locations across Jos, as part of measures to enhance security and improve the appearance of the state capital.
The projects are expected to strengthen security surveillance, improve visibility at night and contribute to a safer and more aesthetically appealing Jos metropolis.
