Civil Society Organisations accredited by INEC to observe the Osun State Governorship Election have commended the peaceful conduct of the poll, but identified areas requiring improvement in future elections.
The observers are calling for better electoral logistics, improved technology and stronger measures against vote buying.
At a post-election briefing in Osogbo, the observers assessed the conduct of the election, including the deployment of personnel and materials, the performance of electoral technology and security around polling areas.
They called on security agencies to maintain neutrality and provide adequate protection for voters, electoral officials and election materials in subsequent elections.
The observers, however, raised concerns over isolated cases of alleged vote buying and urged relevant authorities to investigate the incidents and take appropriate action.
They also recommended a more structured partnership between INEC and traditional rulers, noting that traditional institutions helped resolve potential conflicts in some communities during the election.
The CSOs say addressing the gaps identified during the Osun poll could strengthen public confidence and improve the conduct of future elections.
