South-East has lowest number of indigenes in Nigeria Police Force – Enugu Governor

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, South-East Nigeria had charged youth in the zone to take advantage of the ongoing recruitment process and enlist into the Nigeria Police Force.

Ugwuanyi spoke at the South-East Zone Sensitisation Programme on police recruitment in Nigeria organised by the Police Service Commission, PSC.

Speaking through Secretary to the State Government, Professor Simon Utuanya, the Governor who called for improvement in the number of officers and men recruited from the South-East observed that the zone is the least in the service of the Nigeria Police Force,

Both, the South-East representative in the Police Service Commission, Onyemuche Nnamani and a professor with the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, Felix Asogwa who was the guest speaker, highlighted some of the factors hindering the youth from the South-East from going for police recruitment and its consequences. They appealed for a change in perception.

Participants who spoke at the event described the sensitisation programme as a step in the right direction.

The South-East Zonal Sensitisation Town Hall Forum on recruitment in the Nigeria Police Force attracted representatives from various interest groups, traditional rulers, as well as the youths.
